Inner Companion Foundation · Chennai

Good work keeps coming undone — in our institutions and in us. We work on why.

A think-and-do tank in Chennai. We work with leaders and organisations in India's social sector — and the families they go home to — on the conviction that how we learn, how we earn, and how we live are one fabric.

What we do

One configuration, five scales

Learning, earning and living are not three separate parts of a life. They are three faces of one configuration — which is why changing only one of them rarely holds.

We watch it happen often. A family pulls a child out of school, or someone leaves extractive work, and within a year or two the change quietly comes undone. Not for want of will. The surrounding conditions were never addressed, and the contradiction lands on whoever in the household is carrying the most and counted the least.

Inner Companion Foundation works on the architecture rather than the choice. We do that at five scales.

Self

The Inner Compass

Our regenerative leadership programme for senior practitioners in India's development and social-enterprise sectors.

Household

The Readathon and The Shelf

Returning reading to the family as a slow, intergenerational practice.

Cohort

Family retreats

Where we hold the entire family as they pause to reflect, discern, and act on what kind of family they want to be, and grow into.

Neighbourhood

Reading the City

A place-based programme in which young people learn to read the street they live on, and end by leading a walk of their own.

Bioregion

Community as Textbook

Our field documentation of organisations already treating place and community as curriculum.

Change of this kind does not scale by replication. It scales by relational thickening: one integrated life alters the relationships around it, and when enough of them exist in one place, choices that felt impossible acquire visible precedent.

Where does this meet you?

Three ways in — the work is one, the entrance is yours.

Why one organisation for all three? Because we think they are one problem. A leader fraying, a family unravelling, and a project failing are the same architecture showing its cost in three places. Most help addresses one compartment at a time. We don't — that refusal is our entire theory.

Who we are

A small team, two decades of practice, and a widening circle

The phrase Inner Companion honours the wisdom each of us already carries. We work at the intersection of regenerative leadership, alternative learning, and intentional living — anchored in two pillars, Regeneration and Spirituality.
